Linguine with White Clam Sauce

This is not just for diets.  It is a family favorite.  It is often requested and it is Donna's favorite of all.

1 teaspoon olive oil

2 cloves garlic, minced

¼ cup chopped onions or shallots

¼ cup fresh sliced mushrooms

¾ teaspoon thyme (2 tablespoons fresh)

1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

¼ cup chopped green pepper

1 canned chopped clams, 6 or 7 ounces, reserve liquid

¼ cup parmesan cheese

dash cayenne pepper

freshly ground black pepper

cooked linguine

Sauté onion, green pepper and garlic in olive oil.  Add mushrooms and cover for 3 minutes.  Add remaining ingredients including liquid from clams and heat through.  Serve over hot cooked linguine.
